The Way We Work

The Great Fire

Anyway, either using some techniques or others, the piece must undergo a new process of fire at very high temperatures so that the colours get all their liveliness, and the different materials used are well-integrated in the glazed layer, achieving this way a beautiful, resistant and useful porcelain. It is necessary also that the atmosphere inside the kiln is the appropriate one so that the porcelain proves to be white, and that the pressure is high so that the pieces have no porosity.

The pieces of porcelain final look depends on the perfect integration of the paste with the glaze and the decoration. The indissoluble fusion of all these three aspects culminates the process giving rise to the characteristic works which define Barreiros's style.
